Something More Austin was founded by a former corporate headhunter who decided that after eighteen years in the IT industry, she would rather be a headhunter for the heart.
That former corporate headhunter is Julia McCurley, and she opened the doors to Something More in Austin in the summer of 2009. She has always had the ability to match people: not merely to a job in the corporate world, but in their personal lives. She created many successful relationships and marriages for family members and friends. The time had come to do it professionally.
Julia McCurley knows what she is doing. In addition to her corporate headhunting background, she also has certification from the Matchmaking Institute, which was established in 2003 in order to bring a code of ethics and standards to the matchmaking industry. Something More in Austin serves busy Austin professionals who want a more targeted approach to finding love, than they will find in conventional dating services. “We do a custom search for our clients to provide them exactly what type of person they are looking for.”
When she isn’t busy with Something More in Austin, Julia McCurley is involved in numerous philanthropic activities, primarily in the area of fundraising. She has served on the board of the Texas Advocacy Project, and has chaired its Black and White Ball gala fundraiser for five years in a row. She has been on the Zachary Scott Theatre board, and has been involved in many other causes, including the Center for Child Protection, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.
